itinerary

DAY 1 – Bogotá

Arrival to Bogotá and transfer to the selected hotel.

DAY 2 – Leticia

Start your morning with breakfast at the hotel's restaurant. Transfer to the local airport to take the flight to Leticia. The Amazon Rainforest welcomes you: At the Vasquez Cabo airport in Leticia, our host will pick you up and take you to the Tanimboca natural reserve where you will spend your first night. Once there, you will take a short walk through an ecological trail where you will explore the many installations within the reserve, as well as learn about their many conservation projects. In the afternoon, you will take a 3 hour walk through the trails within the reserve where you will observe the local wildlife, and if lucky, will see the large mammals. If the weather conditions permit, you can take a kayak tour through the Yahuarkaka river instead of walking. At night you will take another walk. This is a very special sensorial experience. Lunch and dinner will be served at the lodge, where you will sleep in private cabins on the tree tops. A unique Amazon experience.

DAY 3 – Amazon Jungle

Exploring the jungle: early in the morning you will have your breakfast and wait for your transport to pick you up to take you to the port of Leticia. You should be at 8:30 am in the port. From there a boat will take you to the Calanoa Natural Reserve that borders the Amacayacu Natural Park, where you will stay the following nights. In the Reserve you will have several options: take walks in the jungle to see local flora and fauna, participate in artisanal fishing days or workshops to develop traditional indigenous crafts. You also have the possibility to visit the community of El Vergel and participate in their typical dances or take a walk on the lake and see pink dolphins. It is also possible to visit the indigenous community of Mocagua, and visit the Maikuchiga Foundation and learn about their conservation work and monitoring of primates (tour included when your group is 4 or more people, if it is less, it will have an additional cost).

DAY 4 – Amazon Jungle

Communities: During this day, you will have the possibility to do activities that you didn't do the day before. A good option is birdwatching during sunrise, as the jungle awakes. You can also take a canoe trip through the river with a local guide who’ll teach you about the local wildlife.

DAY 5 – Puerto Nariño

Puerto Nariño: Early in the morning, a boat will take you to Puerto Nariño, the second largest population in the Colombian Amazon. As you arrive here, we will take you to your hotel. Lunch and dinner are not included; it is the perfect opportunity to explore the local gastronomy. During this tour, you will also visit the Tarapoto lakes, and if lucky, will see the "toninas" or pink dolphins.

DAY 6 – Leticia – Bogotá

Return to Leticia: After breakfast, you will embark back to Leticia on a public boat through the Amazon River. You’ll take your flight back to Bogotá and upon your arrival you’ll be transferred to your hotel.

In case you need, we can arrange an extra night in Bogota or any other extension.
