You will meet your host at the Germán Olano airport in Puerto Carreno, and head towards the river port, where you will start navigating the Orinoco river towards Casuarito, a small village 90 kms away. During this first part of the expedition, you will have the opportunity to observe various ecosystems, endemic wildlife, such as forests, moss covered rocks and gallery forests. From Casuarito, you will continue the expedition towards the Mesetas creek, where you will head out on a 1 hour long hike towards El Tablón Port. During this hike, you will only carry your personal belongings, camera and hydration, while the rest of the luggage will be carried by boat. This way, you will enjoy the activity more. These river and creeks are home to the fastest and widest rapids in the world. From El Tablón, you will continue navigating the Orinoco river towards Garcitas community, where you will have lunch.
After lunch, you will embark on a motor moat at 14:00, heading out towards El Tuparro National Park, located 30 kms away from Garcitas. Once there, you will visit the Visitor Center, and then arrive at the camping site, located right on the Orinoco river beach. After you settle in, you will head to the Maipures rapids, named by Alexander von Humboldt as the 8th natural wonder of the world. You will return to the campsite at 17:30 for dinner, and recharge energy for the next day.
