  • Because it is a National Park, you must have the yellow fever vaccine. Depending on the airline, you must show the vaccination card.
  • National Parks prohibits the entrance of minors under 5 years old to the park.
  • It is important that you know that during the tours you will be able to bathe in specific places that your guide will let you know.
  • The itinerary can change depending on the carrying capacity of the trails, which are designated by the local environmental institutions.
  • If you follow a special diet (Allergies or restricted foods) or if you are vegan/vegetarian, please let us know after we have confirmed your reservation.
  • Caño Cristales (Crystal Channel) ecosystem is very fragile, which is why it is prohibited to use Sunscreen, body creams, insect repellent or any other chemical product that might alter the water and/or plants.
  • It is prohibited to bring plastic bottles or takeout recipients. Please bring a reusable water bottle.

Day 1 - Caño Cristalitos

Once you arrive at La Macarena Airport, you will meet with your local guide and receive an induction talk given by the National Natural Parks. Then according to the schedule given by the National Natural Parks, you will head out to the port to take a speedboat through the Guayabero River during a 20 minutes ride up to Cristalitos (Little Crystal Channel), to then start a 30 minutes hike approximately until you reach Cristalitos (Little Crystal Channel), where you will enjoy the small natural pools, perfect to relax and enjoy the place. There you will have lunch fiambre type (served in a plantain leaf), and then return to La Macarena in a car or moto-taxi, and then you go to the lodging where you will rest and have dinner. Your local guide will let you know the meet up time for breakfast and for the excursion for the next day.


Day 2 - Caño Cristales (Rainbow River)

After having breakfast you will head out to the port to then take a speedboat during a 25 minutes journey up to the port of Los Mangos where you will take a 4x4 vehicle and start a journey of approximately 30 to 40 minutes up to the entrance of the trail to Caño Cristales (Crystal Channel). From here you will start a hike to visit the river of five colors and its different attractive places such as Los Hoyos (The Holes) or Los Ochos (The Eights), Los Pianos, Piscina Turistica (Touristic Pool), Los Cuarzos (The Quartzes) and El Paso de la Danta (A biological corridor) among others, where you will snorkel, swim and observe Macarenia Clavigera (different Algaes) which fills the place of different colors, you can also take pictures and enjoy the waterfalls and the unique and diverse nature surroundings. It is important that you know that during the tours you will be able to bathe in specific places that your guide will let you know.  During this excursion, you will have lunch served in a plantain leaf. After an afternoon full of nature, you will return to La Macarena to have dinner during the Parrando Llanero (Plainsman Party) where you will taste mamona or meat of the plainsman style, enjoy traditional live dances and music of the region. At 21:00 you will be back at the lodging.


Day 3 - Caño Piedra (Rock Channel)

Very early in the morning, you will take ground transportation (Truck or Moto-taxi) up to a small river known as Caño Piedra (Rock Channel). In the journey up to this place, you will appreciate the best landscapes of this destination such as the plain savannahs, The Serranias of La Macarena (Macarena’s Highland) and the Guayabero River. You will have the morning free to enjoy the small river with crystalline and warm waters. Then you will head back to La Macarena to then go to the airport where your trip ends and you return home.
